Naval scene depciting the rescue, by a British sailor,of a French captain's wife who, to escape the burning vessel L'Achille, had jumped into the waves. The sinking L'Achille can be seen on the left, while several French and British engaging in battle can be seen on the right. In the foreground a woman in a white dress is pulled from the water into a boat full of British sailors.
