A bust portrait of James Francis Edward Stuart ('The Old Pretender', 1688 - 1766, son of the deposed James II) as a child, with the Prince of Wales's feathers below, and the title lettered to decorative oval frame. On the death of his father in 1701 he was proclaimed king of England, Scotland and Ireland by his cousin Louis XIV of France.
