Atlas or A Geographicke description of the Regions, Countries and Kingdoms of the world, through Europe, Asia Africa, and America, represented by new and exact Maps. Translated by Henry Hexham, Quarter-maister to the Regiment of Colonel Goring.
Engraved titlepage with pasted title label, as usual for this edition. 370 x 240mm. Some creasing and a repaired split.
The titlepage to a rare English edition of the three-volume Mercator's atlas of the world. As an attempt to break into the lucrative English market the atlas was a failure: when Jansson published his volume of English county maps in 1645 he did not bother to print an English edition.
