Folio; full calf gilt, a.e.g, marbled endpapers; 30 plates interleaved with tissue, 2 smaller plates mounted on album paper to fit. The last four plates, 'Leonore', marked proofs. Some old ink mss. titles, some trimmed for binding.
A collection of thirty plates after Lady Diana Beauclerk (1734–1808), daughter of the 3rd Duke of Marlborough. These are: 13 plates from 'The Fables of John Dryden', engraved by Bartolozzi (3), Harding (5), Cheesman (3), Gardiner, Vandenburg and one unsigned; and 17 decorative vignette plates engraved by Bartolozzi (12), Gardiner (4) and one unsigned. Beauclerk illustrated a number of literary productions, including Horace Walpole's tragedy 'The Mysterious Mother',, and provided designs for Josiah Wedgwood's bas-reliefs on jasper ornaments.
