A fast lugger, designed to get fish ashore as fast as possible, off Le Palais, a fortified port on the island of Belle Īle, Britanny. Plate 32 of the 'Liber Nauticus, and Instructor in the Art of Marine Drawing' by Dominic Serres and his son John Thomas Serres. Both were marine painters to the king, and John was the Master of Drawing at the Chelsea Naval School and, according to the title page of the 'Liber', 'Marine Draught-man to the Honourable the Board of Admiralty'.
