Warships of Studland Bay, Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. Old Harry is a chalk stack, shown on the right of this scene with a 'wife', another stack that has now been reduced to a stump. Plate 24 of the 'Liber Nauticus, and Instructor in the Art of Marine Drawing', published during the Napoleonic Wars by Dominic Serres and his son John Thomas Serres. Both were marine painters to the king, and John was the Master of Drawing at the Chelsea Naval School and, according to the title page of the 'Liber', 'Marine Draught-man to the Honourable the Board of Admiralty'.
