Plate 22 of the 'Liber Nauticus, and Instructor in the Art of Marine Drawing' by Dominic Serres and his son John Thomas Serres. The book was published during the Napoleonic Wars, perhaps explaining the depiction of Harwich, a town with a long history of civil and military significance, in this print. Both John and Dominic were marine painters to the king, and John was the Master of Drawing at the Chelsea Naval School and, according to the title page of the 'Liber', 'Marine Draught-man to the Honourable the Board of Admiralty'.
