A head and shoulders portrait of Admiral Lord Nelson, with his emptry sleeve tucked into his coat and showing his blind eye. Nelson (1758 – 1805) was a British flag officer famous for his service in the Royal Navy, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. He was involved in several important victories, including the Battle of Trafalgar, in which he was killed.
