The Distrest Poet.
[London: Robert Sayer, 1768.]
Engraving with very large margins; 175 x 280mm (7 x 11").
A poor poet attempting to work in a garret. Soon after the death of William Hogarth in 1764, his widow Jane gave the London publisher Robert Sayer permission to publish a collection of her husband's work. Although engraved in a smaller format, Sayer's versions retain all the detail of the original plates.
