Portrait of Saint Louise de Marillac (1591-1660), who in 1633 co-founded (with Vincent de Paul) the Company of the Daughters of Charity, which served the needs of the sick and poor. Under Louise's guidance the Company expanded to include orphanages, institutions for the elderly and mentally ill, and work in prisons and on the battlefield. The text recounts her virtues. Engraved by Gaspard Duchange (1662-1757).
