[Connoisseurs admiring a skull.]
Etching and aquatint with hand-colouring, platemark 250 x 200mm (10 x 8"). A very scarce print with very fine colour.
Unidentified satire showing a group of six connoisseurs (or antiquaries?) admire a skull, stood in a room filled with skulls and busts. The skulls are placed on shelves befitting their subjects: 'lawers [sic], thieves & murderers', 'poets, dramatists, actors' and 'philosophers, statesmen & historians'. The skulls include that of a crocodile. A phrenological item.
