Parody of Landseer's contrasting dog portraits. Here the 'high bred' dog is Sir Francis Burdett, with his 'low bred' counterpart Daniel O'Connell. Burdett wrote a letter to the members of Brookes's club, to induce them to expel Mr. O'Connell, on account of the gross language he used in his north country tour, when speaking of the Duke of Wellington, the Duke of Cumberland, and the House of Peers generally.
BM Satires: undesribed; for the same incident see ref. 30639, published the same day.
