Portrait, three-quarter length in an oval, directed to left, head turned to look away to right, in a uniform coat with rich embroidery, loose wavy hair to shoulders, left arm across his waist, drawing opposite hem of coat towards him; with royal arms below and crown descending from clouds above. Prince William Frederick, 2nd Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh (1776-1834), great-grandson of King George II and nephew and son-in-law of King George III. In 1816 he married the Princess Mary, his cousin and fourth daughter of George III.
