Etching and engraving, rare, paper watermarked. Plate 330 x 424mm (13 x 16¾"). Small tear into upper edge of plate, corners of paper cut just outside platemark.
Young peasant girl seen half-length, seated on chair, and winding a wool ball whilst looking at a cat lying on a table on the left. A pair of scissors hangs portentously above the cat's head! The original painting was shown at the Salon in 1759, while the plate was shown in 1763.
