Portrait of the first Earl Roberts, 'perhaps the ablest field commander since Wellington' (DNB). Photogravure from the 1906 portrait by John Singer Sargent, the pre-eminent portrait painter of his generation, in the National Portrait Gallery. This print was produced by Sir Emery Walker (1851-1933), who as well as his engraving was also an influential typographer who collaborated with William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones amongst others.
