A man in oriental dress, wounded in the chest, expires in the arms of his daughter, on a leopard skin, attended by a European officer on the right, saying that he does not fear death but fears for his daughter's future, with a battle raging in the background to right. The final state has lines from the author Jean Francois Marmontel below the image.
