A Matter of "Credit".No. 47.
Published by I.B Brooke, 9, New Bond Street, sole Publisher of Mr. Henry Heaths Sketches. [London, n.d., c.1830.]
Hand coloured lithograph on blue-tinted paper, sheet 235 x 175mm. 9¼ x 7". Margins trimmed; fine early colour.
Political satire: Henry Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham and Vaux (1778 - 1868), in his Lord Chancellor's wig and robe, facing Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769 - 1852). Wellington is wearing an undergraduate's mortarboard and gown; he was Chancellor of the University of Oxford 18341852. I.(or J.)B. Brookes (1830 - 1837; fl.) published his own lithographic satires. His monogram appears similar to HB (John Doyle), perhaps deliberately.
BM Satires undescribed.
