The Tiger Macaroni, or Twenty More, Kill'Em. V.2. 2.
Etching with large margins. Sheet 209 x 303mm. 8¼ x 12".
A whole length profile figure of a man in a hat and military coat with facings. His hair stands out in a long, thin, stiffened queue. His right hand holds a tasselled cane which rests on his shoulder; his left is on the hilt of his sword. Possibly intended for Lieut. Alexander Murray, the officer in command of the Guards at the so-called Massacre of St. George's Fields, 10 May 1768. From 'Macaronies, Characters, Caricatures &c', an album of caricatures published by Mary Darly dated January 1776. It seems that her husband Matthew made the plates.
