Whole-length, standing on deck of a ship, directed to the left, facing and looking to the right, wearing uniform with medals and star, right sleeve pinned to waistcoat, sword at left leaning against a cannon, ship rigging on the right. Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of BrontÚ, KB (1758-1805), the British flag officer famous for his service in the Royal Navy, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. He won several victories, including the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, during which he was killed.
