The red-breasted goose, the endangered species of goose from Eurasia. It is a rare vagrant to Great Britain, but is sometimes found with flocks of Brent of Barnacle Geese. From 'The Birds of Great Britain' by John Gould. Known as 'the Bird Man', John Gould (1804-1881) was a naturalist whose passion was the field of ornithology. The popular five volume folio of British birds was originally issues in London in twenty-five parts between 1863 and 1873 and contains 367 plates. The vast majority of the plates were sketched from freshly killed specimens.
