Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) the celebrated Admiral of the Royal Navy, known for his victory at the Battle of Trafalagar of 1805, during which he was shot and killed. One of a number of stipple heads of Kings and Queens of similar format printed on quarto sheets, by Chapman, published by J. Wilkes, 1795-1810. They probably appeared as illustrations to the 'Encyclopaedia Londinensis, Universal Dictionary of Arts, Sciences and Literature ... Embellished by ... engravings. Compiled ... by John Wilkes'.
