Published at 6, Wilson Street, Gray's Inn Road 1825.
Rare hand-coloured lithograph, sheet 290 x 215mm. 11½ x 8½".
Half-length portrait of Harriette Wilson (née Dubouchet) (1786-1845), courtesan, her left elbow resting upon patterned surface upon which her dairy rests, the pages open. Wilson wrote her 'Memoirs' of 1825 in which she blackmailed her many lovers, including the Duke of Wellington, to get their names omitted. This occasioned the Iron Duke's remark 'Publish and be damned'.
