A hand-drawn volvelle, with the inner dial held in place with string. The inner dial consists of a twenty-four hour clock, with 27 place names around the outer ring, including London, Brazil, Virginia, Florida, California, New Zealand, Botany Bay, China, Bombay & Russia, allowing the user to work out local time in each. A copy of the frontispiece to John Grieg's 'An introduction to the use of the globes, for youth of both sexes', published 1816.
