South Elmham Hall, the 13th century former bishop's palace within a four-acre moated site. It was the residence of Robert Alexander Shafto Adair, 1st Baron Waveney (1811-1886) who was a British Liberal Party politician who served as a Member of Parliament for Cambridge. In 1873 he was created Baron Waveney, of South Elmham.
