Frontispiece to his 'Body of Divinitie', 2nd edition, 1647. James Ussher (1581-1656) was Church of Ireland Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland between 1625 and his death. He was a theologian and scholar and published a chronology of Earth based on the Bible, determining the time and date of the creation as the night preceding Sunday, 23 October 4004 BC.
