Portrait of the Flemish artist and poet Adriaen van de Venne (1589-1662) etched after a self-portrait by Wenceslaus Hollar. Adrian Van Der Veen, painter and engraver b.1599. From the 'True Effigies Of the most Eminent Painters, and other Famous Artists That have Flourished in Europe' published in 1694 in Antwerp. Below the portrait is a biographical note, as Pennington notes, 'in execrable French'. A black chalk drawing by Hollar for this etching is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
