A view of Cairo from the Nile, from Frederik Ludvig Norden's 'Voyage d'Égypte et de Nubie', with the Mokkias, a nilometer built by the Saracens. Norden, a Danish captain, travelled down the Nile through Egypt to Sudan in 1737-8; his account was published over a decade after his death with engravings after his drawings made during the tour.
