From Louis Brion de la Tour's 'Géographie Moderne, Historique et Politique'. A map of the Western Hemisphere, just pre-dating Cook's discoveries in the Pacific. Thus New Zealand appears as mapped by Abel Tasman over a century earlier, and North-West America is shown according to the spurious mapping of the Russians, with a huge 'Mer de l'Ouest' and a North-West Passage.
