Home to the Duke of Rutland from the mid 18th century. Rutland Gate, a square of well-proportioned houses, now stands on the site. With plan of the six acre site to scale and views of the two facades of the main house, from the back and front, to the lower part. George Henry Robins (1777 – 1847) was an extremely successful auctioneer of property in London and the country, based in Covent Garden. He was commissioned by the Earl of Waldegrave to dispose of the contents of Strawberry Hill, and also handled the sales of The Southall Estate (Leicester Square), Lundy Island, and Nash's Estate.
