Mohan Lal (1812-1877) was a traveller, diplomat, and author. He played a significant role in the First Anglo-Afghan War of 1838-1842. His accounts of his journey's in Turkestan, Balkh, Bokara and Herat in the late 1830's was the most authentic. His intelligence was invaluable. He had been a student at the Persian College in Delhi so was fluent in Hindi, Persian, and English.
