The interior of a classroom at Harrow School, founded in 1571. This is the original schoolroom of John Lyon's foundation and still contains the canopied seat provided for the first master, and the uncomfortable forms upon which the first generation of Harrow boys sat. Carved on the dingy oak panelling which surrounds the room are the names, rudely cut by their own hands, of Byron, Sir Robert Peel, Sir William Jones, Lord Palmerston, Sheridan and other Harrovians. Remarque of the arms of Harrow School.
PSA: Vol I. Rem.AP. 60.
