Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) in an oval, surrounded by putti and angel with flowers. He was a Swedish botanist, physician, and zoologist. He was instrumental for laying the foundations for the modern scheme of binomial nomenclature. He is also known as the father of modern taxonomy, and also considered one of the fathers of modern ecology.
