Fine hand coloured engraving, image 210 x 405mm, 8¼ x 16". Laid on card in near-contemporary presentation by or for collector 'E J Myles'; inscribed to verso with his name (probably signature) in ink, and numbered '37'. Margins a little trimmed; fine contemporary colour.
A view in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, Paris; figures promenading around fountains, statuary and other garden architecture. Three sedan chair-type carriages feature, on wheels but powered by liveried footmen to front and rear. Numbered '4' upper right, from a series of English copies of views of French royal palaces by Jacques Rigaud (1681 - 1754). French translation of title and descriptive text to lower right.
