William Hunter (1718-1783) was a Scottish anatomist and physician. He was a leading teacher of anatomy and an outstanding obstrecician. He worked with the artist Jan Van Rymsdyk to produce one of the greatest achievements in the history of medical illustration, "Anatomia uteri humani gravidi tabulis illustrata", published in 1774.
