Extrait de l'Album breton, 2eme Serie.Berceau et Tombe de Chateaubriand. [&] Hotel de France a St. Malo.
Lith. Landais & Oberthur, Rennes [n.d., c.1847/48].
Two sepia-tinted lithographic plates t/w titlepage and text leaf in original publisher's brown paper printed wrapper. Some, mostly marginal, spotting to plates; wrapper atty and chipped.
The two plates are views in Saint-Malo, a walled port city in Brittany in northwestern France on the English Channel. It is a sub-prefecture of the Ille-et-Vilaine department. This is one part (the 12th) of a pictorial supplement to the 'Guide historique et statistique... d'Ille-et-Vilaine' by Émile Ducrest de Villeneuve. Together these separtely-issued parts formed the 2nd series of the 'Album breton', together with the 'Souvenirs de Rennes' (1st) series. The Bibliotheque nationale de France has both series of the album as two 4to vols. Two pages of descriptive text at rear initialled 'E.D.V[illeneuve].' Exceedingly rare in this the original presentation to subscribers.
