Frances Anne Greville, Lady Crewe (1744-1818) was a leader of fashion and a Whig hostess; she married John Crewe, 1st Baron Crewe of Crewe in 1766; here with her brother William Fulke Greville (1751-1837) who later became a naval officer. As Psyche, she stands under trees holding a vase in both hands; William, as cupid, stands on a stone grasping the scarf flowing around them with his right hand; a waterfall at right.
