Two engravings on two pages conjoined (tissue guard between), from an unidentified 8vo book, pamphlet or periodical. Each sheet 225 x 140mm, 9 x 5½".
Interesting views of the principal facade and two proposed extensions to the London Female Penitentiary, at No. 166, Pentonville Road, Islington. Formerly a nunnery school, this was a charitable institution whose inmates - "fallen women" - were rehabilitated and trained for service, their earnings at needlework and washing helping to maintain it.
