A view inside the Wren Library, Trinity College Cambridge. This library was completed in 1695 to the design of Sir Christopher Wren (1632-1723) and houses significant manuscript, rare books and other special collections. With exquisite classical proportions it maximises the use of space and light; the limewood carvings are by Grinling Gibbons and the furnishings include a series of Roubiliac marble busts of College alumni, including Richard Bentley, Sir Isaac Newton and Francis Bacon. The window at the back is a later addidtion in 1771; designed by Giovanni Battista Cipriani, it was executed by Peckitt of York.
