An anonymous account of a barge capsizing in the Split Rock Rapids on the St Laurence River, thanks to a drunken captain who felt he didn't need a pilot. Published for stay-at-home adventurers in Issue 2 of "Tales of travellers; or, A view of the world", October 15th 1836 and the collected edition of 1838.
