The Duero Bridge in Valladolid. A strategic fort was built by Napoleon in 1812 during the French Revolutionary Wars to defend the passage across the River Duero. Gun fire can be seen from the tower and the opposite side of the bridge, as the French army fight to hold their ground and defend the bridge and passageway. A boat in the foreground has had little success in crossing, with bodies lying on the shoreline.
