Napoleon Bonaparte.Chef de Brigands; at his Post of Honor.
Etching, sheet 150 x 105mm. 6 x 4". Trimmed within plate, some staining, small tear from lower left.
Unusual bust portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 – 1821), in profile to right, wearing uniform with his petit chapeau; framed by a gibbet, the post on the left, the noose dangling above his head. Satire on the return of Napoleon to Paris and how his support was weakening quite profoundly. Apparently from the engraving (reversed) by Lehmann after Dähling (1807).
BM Satires: 12121.
