A spectacle and demonstration for the birthday of Charles IV of Spain on 20 January 1784. Pieter Hendrik Reynst (1767-1832) was a Vice-Admiral in the Dutch Navy, who commanded this re-enactment for the King. The original Battle of Malage was the largest naval battle in the War of the Spanish Succession, in 1704. Adrmiral George Rooke lead the English-Dutch fleet against the French, resulting in an allied stategic victory. The castle that stands in the background is Gibralfaro, an ancient fortress above the Port of Malaga. 1784 also marked the year that Malaga was granted with a Breakwater in the port.
