Vice Admiral Savage Mostyn(c.1713-1757) was a naval officer, elevating through the ranks very quickly, seeing action at Cartagena. He was court-marshalled for supposedly showing no courage during Ushant and thus neglecting his duty as an officer for not engaging with the French fleets. He never lived this down, despite being cleared through the courts. In 1755 he rose to flag rank and was made second in command to the fleet sent to North American under the command of Vice-Admiral Boscawen.
