Victor-Marie Hugo (1802-1885) was an French poet, playwright, novelist, essayist, visual artist, stateman, human rights activist and exponent of the Romantic movement in France. Here Victor Hugo is seated with a collection of some of his greatest works surrounding him. On the floor to the bottom right are two volumes of his 1862 masterpiece: Les MisÚrables.
