The French repulsed by the British Troops at Williamstadt,& obliged to retreat March 6th 1793.
Coloured engraving. 175 x 280mm, 7 x 11".
The Relief of Williamstadt by the British under the Duke of York in 1793, during the French Revolutionary Wars. Francis West was an optician and part-time printseller c. 1830-50, operating both his businesses from Fleet Street. His output appears to be solely reprints, having acquired copper plates from the sale of Robert Wilkinson's stock in 1825, some of which were engraved in the mid eighteenth century by John Bowles.
