The Seige of Seringapatam, 4th May 1799, was the final confrontation between the British East India Company and the Kingdom of Mysore, as part of the Fouth Anglo-Mysore War. The British broke through the walls of the fortress at Seringapatam, where Tippu Sultan, Mysore's ruler, was killed in action. Successful, the British restored the Wodeyar dynasty to the throne, but retained indirect control of the Kingdom.
