Captain Denis O'Kelly dressed as a macaroni in profile mounted on his famous race-horse, Eclipse, by 'The Betting Post". Racing interest. From an album of caricatures published by Mary Darly dated January 1776. It seems that her husband Matthew made the plates. Numbered 'V.2' upper left and '9' upper right. The Lieutenant Colonel Dennis O'Kelly, commonly called Count O'Kelly. He was considered to be the Napoleon of the turf and the gambling table. Ascot was his elysium. His horses occupied him by day and the Hazard table by night.
