Eveleen Buckton (1872-1962) was born in Haslemere, Surrey. She was pupil of Sir Frank Short, and her etchings, many of which are of landscapes, are in his style. In 1931 an exhibition of her work was held at the Arlington Gallery in Bond Str. London, where the The Times stated that although her outlook on pictorial work was romantic, she had a sculptor's instinct. Eveleen also designed a stainglass window for Haslemere Church, depicting the Holy Grail, as part of the Tennyson Memorial. She died in Hampstead in 1962, leaving her collection of drawings, etchings, watercolours and sculptures to the British Museum.
