The farmer wears the macaroni looped club to his hair, and coat, waistcoat, and frilled shirt. With this he wears a round hat, loose gloves, and spurred riding boots. In his right hand he holds a rough-cut cane. From 'Macaronies, Characters, Caricatures &c by MDarly', in an album of caricatures published by Mary Darly dated January 1776. It seems that her husband Matthew made the plates. Numbered 'V.4' upper left and '1' upper right.
