Order of Procession & Ceremonial of Proclaiming King George the Fourth,At Edinburgh, The 3d February, 1820.
Letterpress broadside with woodcut border, sheet 410 x 210mm. 16 x 8¼". Several folds, occasionally developing small holes.
A scarce surviving sheet detailing the order by rank in which Peers, magistrates and dignitaries should process, as George IV (1762 – 1830) is proclaimed King in Edinburgh; also the scheduled route of the procession. George was not crowned until 19th July 1821, though his father George III died on 29th January 1820. The new King was apparently solemnly proclaimed in Edinburgh five days later at 'the Cross', Castlehill, outside Holyrood Palace, and at the Parliament House.
